Comfy Days

Hi everyone :)
Although I do enjoy dressing up for work and getting to wear a variety of clothes, yesterday I went for a more casual look.

With the weather being a little on the sad side, as well as a full day of work and a  mid-term exam for my spring course ahead of me, I decided it was a perfect day for a scarf, oversized sweater, comfy jeans and sandals.

Shirt: Joe Fresh ($5)
Pants: American Eagle ($40)
Sweater: My moms (Borrowed)
Scarf: Urban Outfitters ($5 - boxing day deal!)
Sandals: Venice Beach ($10)

Last night I decided to relax, curl up on the couch with a hot cup of soup and watch the season finale of Grey's Anatomy. Are there any other fans out there like me, especially ones that are sad to see Lexi go :( ?

'Win'ing with Pink Pants

Last week Carly and I were wandering the streets of Victoria and stepped into Win (women in need) one of our local thrift stores. I especially love shopping and buying items at Win as I know that a good portion of the money I spend is going directly to women and children in need, and if I can find a cute new pair of pink pants and also help someone, its a win-win deal (pardon the terrible pun!).

I ended up walking away with a pair of pinky-red jeans, a lovely beige/gold handbag as well as a pair of beige pants and a necklace.

With my new job I am constantly putting new outfits together in my head and decided today I would wear my new pink pants

Pants: Ghost and Angels $10
Shirt: Anonymous clothing corp $5 (on sale, then half off at winners)
Cardigan: Rino Rossi (old, $?)
Shoes: Sportsgirl $30 (75% off, got while I was in Australia)
Purse: Suzy Shier $15

Lazy Lake Day

Living in one of the most beautiful and serene parts of the world gives us unlimited new places to explore when the sun is shining. Vancouver Island holds some of the purest, freshest rivers and lakes that are the ultimate paradise when the weather heats up. We packed a bag filled with sunscreen, sunnies, thread to make bracelets, books and snacks and set out to find a lake we had never been to. After a few GPS confusions and wrong turns, we arrived at Durrance Lake. It was breathtaking. The water was clear enough to see straight to the bottom and the sun shone directly on the secluded beach we discovered. The only thing that could have made this day more relaxing was an air mattress to float around the lake on... and maybe some 'refreshments'.

It was still a little too chilly for us to swim but we had a lovely day tanning and chatting. Hope the sun was shining wherever you were!

Love,

DIY Tribal Necklace

I have seen so many tribal necklaces floating around on the internet so I decided to try it out for myself. This project is so simple but can take some time depending how long you want the necklace and how thick you want the rope to be. I did mine while sitting at the lake one day so it went by fast for me.

What you need:
Embroidery string
Soft rope (find at any fabric store)
Hemp (if you want)

I decided to use my blue string and make an all blue necklace. There are so many colours you can choose from and I have already started creating a few other necklaces that I am sure you will see in posts to come.

Shirt: DIY distorted tank
Shorts: DIY dip dye bleach
Necklace DIY Tribal Necklace

I unfortunately did not take photos of myself actually making the necklace, but all you are doing is the basic friendship knot over and over, as well as switching the colours whenever you want. I have added a helpful link below that shows you how to do the friendship knot.
If you have any questions feel free to send me a email!

P.S. Self portraits...I know terrible huh? But I was all alone with no friends or tripod to take my photo, so theses are what you get ;)

Fan Tan Alley

With the sun beginning to shine far longer than it used to, we took advantage of the particularly warm evening by searching for lost and hidden gems in the shops of Canada's oldest China Town. You can feel the history in the walls as you make your way down these narrow, dimly lit alley ways. Like any best friends, we enjoy lazy days when nothing particularly exciting happens, but this evening was filled with inside jokes, lovely thrift finds, laughter and exploration.

We found ourselves at one of our favourite little spots in down town Victoria, the Bubble Tea Place. Three years ago we tried bubble tea together for the first time and for decided it wasn't for either of us. We of course decided to give it a second chance and now love, crave and enjoy bubble tea whenever we can!

Taking our delicious tea with their eccentric names (flirtatious raspberry and nipple twister), we headed into Chinatown, one of the most popular streets in Victoria. The street is filled with old Chinese design, street markets, hidden alleyways and wandering people.

Victoria's Chinatown is the oldest Chinatown in Canada and the second oldest in North America, making it that much more interesting to have in our own backyard.

After spending a good amount of time window shopping, thrift shopping, chatting and walking the old brick alleys, we headed home..  or that's where we were supposed to be headed..

Getting sidetracked and making a short pit stop on the side of the road with the sun hitting it just right, we thought it would make for a great photo opportunity.

We want to thank everyone who has visited our site and a special thanks to all the followers. It means a lot to us.
Keep smiling and creating :)

Tassel Tee DIY

My white tee needed a little makeover for summer. I found these plastic neon beads in my craft box and a lightbulb went off in my head! I remembered the tassel shirts I use to get in Mexico when I was a little girl so I decided to make my own version.  These shirts are everywhere in stores at the moment, but why not create something that no one else will have? It's much more fun and the possibilities are endless. Because of my neon obsession right now, I'd love to try cutting up a neon pink shirt and adding metallic beads.

What You Need:
  • An old t-shirt (thrift stores have the very best ones!)
  • Plastic beads
  • Scissors
  • A splash of patience

What To Do:
  • Put the shirt on and measure where you would like the tassels to rise to
  • Start cutting your tassels - it's okay if they aren't all the same size
  • Once you have cut the tassels, add your beads and tie a knot at the end of each tassel
  • Enjoy!

Try out this DIY. Trust me, it will make you feel like a kid again :)

Love,
C

Fluorescent Adolescent

I couldn't imagine anything more peaceful than waking up to the birds singing, the sun streaming in your window and knowing you have the whole day off to do whatever you wish. This was the case for me today. I decided to walk around downtown and pick up a few things for my next DIY. Buskers and street vendors filled every corner and the outdoor patios were overflowing with smiling faces. It's unbelievable how a little Vitamin D can do wonders for your mood! With the sun up and over 20 degrees, I felt it was the perfect day to debut this fluorescent pink cardigan I thrifted last weekend. I didn't quite realize how bright it was until I stepped out into the sun wearing it. I paired it with lace shorts from Zara and a plain white tee.

I hope you are enjoying your weekend and that wherever you are, the sun is shining!

Love,
C
